Until The Light Takes You (9/10):

„[...] Little more than half an hour for this debut album of these Berliners to seduce you with a great mix of psychedelic rock, blues rock and stoner. Seven songs that pass like a breath in an album full of riffs, double guitar melodies playing at will in the different channels and above all a brutal groove of drums and bass with that retro sound that we like so much. But without a doubt, the prize goes to the voice of Alessandro Monte who is superb and sometimes it seems that you are listening to Magnus Pelander of Witchcraft and others to Robert Plant himself.

"Through The Grapevine" is a compendium of magnificent, varied and catchy tracks as is the case of "Mandala Lady" which opens the album and has a more psychedelic type cut or "Beethoven" which reminds us of that more classic and cheerful rock of the Rolling Stones. But they also have room for fuzz and that dirt that gives the grain of the desert as is the case of "Spider's Web" or "Domo" that even gets to play with doom in a cadent and hammering riff, and again Alessandro doing whatever he wants with his voice, either in the high tones or going to the mud. Domo is the longest track on the album and one of the best if not the best, a track that plays with that stoner/doom and an incredible riff that pierces you until the track breaks the dynamic to go back to where it started in memorable vocal and guitar melodies. Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke
